To mark 2024 National FIBAN day, the ogun state chapter of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) has mourn late Prince Gbenga Adeboye, Toba Opaleye, Kola Olawuyi and other departed Souls who were members of the Association before their demise.
April 30th of every year is set aside to celebrate the lives of all the legends and members who have left the world, as it was stated in Article 8 of the Association’s Constitution 2020 as amended.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting chairman of the Association, Comrade Aderoju Adejare in Abeokuta, the state capital, disclosed that 30th of April marks the 21st year since one of the legends of the Association, Prince Elijah Olugbenga Adeboye popularly known during his life time as (Funwontan) departed from this world, noting that, Olugbenga Adeboye was the founding Father of FIBAN across the country and beyond and had also trained a lot of broadcasters.
He added that, the day also mark the 18th year since Alhaji Tajudeen Toba Opaleye, who was a versatile broadcaster, producer, author, composer, and singer, left this world and the likes of Alh. Adio Amusa, Elder Ashamu Akinrinde among others.
He eulogized the legends and remembered them with their impactful legacy they left behind, prayed for their departed souls to rest in peace.
According to the statement “Their departure left a void that can never be filled, but their legacies continue to illuminate our path and guide us in our endeavours. Their impact echoes through generations of broadcasters who have benefited from his wisdom and guidance”.
“No doubt their multifaceted talents enriched our culture and love for broadcasting, they left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Their creativity and innovation inspired many and will continue to do so for years to come”.
“We also pay homage to Alh. Adio Amusa and *Elder Ashamu Akinrinde,* whose contributions to our association and community are deeply cherished. Their dedication and service exemplify the spirit of unity and solidarity that defines FIBAN”.
“Though they may have departed from this earthly realm, their spirits live on in our hearts and memories. We honour their lives by continuing the work they started, striving for excellence, and upholding the values they held dear”.
“May the souls of our departed legends and members rest in perfect peace, knowing that their contributions have left an indelible mark on our hearts and our association”.
I personally, I can forget Olugbenga Adeboye for what he did for me when he was alive and after his death. I know people may be confusing about what I mentioned above. After the death of Legend he come to me and give me something, I mean after his death. May God give me Opportunity to explain this in details before the whole World. UP FIBAN
