…As NUJ Honours Him With Award of ‘Ace Of Initiative’

The Ogun state chief economy adviser to the governor and commissioner for finance, Hon. Dapo Okubadejo has said that the gov. Dapo Abiodun led administration knows the importance of the state owned Radio and TV station.
Ogunbadejo stated this on Wednesday at Monthly Guest Night Forum, organized by the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) held at the Council Secretariat, Iwe-Iroyin, Okelewo, Abeokuta, the state capital.
He assured that there will be proper maintenance for the two organizations, revealed that both organizations will also benefit what other Ministries, Department and Agencies have benefited.
While reacting on the preparation of the state government for the forthcoming National Sports Festival in the state, he revealed that the government has been putting up the necessary things in place so that the stadiums and sport facilities would have a new look, boasted that the state will host best ever festival.
He disclosed that the financial aspect of the festival will be carried out by the state government and Federal Ministry of Sports, adding that the constituted committee for the festival are working tirelessly to get sponsors.
“The administration knows the importance of these two organizations and plans are on the way for a turnaround of these two organizations. I am not in the position to tell you when or how because I’m not a media expert but just rest assured that it will soon be feeling some of reform initiatives that have happened in other MDAs.
“On sports, the Existing infrastructures at stadiums that we have across the Three senatorial districts are currently undergoing some refurbishment that will happen in preparation for the National Sports Festival. Things have changed from that time to now. We are plan to do a lot of work in this area and audit has already been done of all the sport facilities in the state. Various work programmes have been developed and the costing for the refurbishment of different sport facilities is also taken place now.
“Our track records of performance in other areas should not give you any worries as to the fact that we are going to do best ever sport game in Nigeria this year in Ogun state.
“The Festival will traditionally financed in conjunction with federal ministry of sports and largely is an opportunity to upgrade and improve on our sport facilities. LOC has already been commissioned, already been working and have reached out to a lot of sponsors that are willing to provide funding.
Earlier, the State chairman of NUJ, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju narrated the state of the Union before and after he became the chairman, saying that his administration has achieved many things by initiating a lot of programmes that have brought back the lost glory of the Union.
He further explained that the properties of the Union are now properly managed, adding that the state governor has even promised the Union to rufurblish it Secretariat and building a befiting structure on the permanent site of the Union.
The highlight of the event is the presentation of Award of ‘Ace Of Initiative’ to the commissioner and cutting of the cake been presented by the Ogun NUJ to mark his birthday.
