Governor’s cup: Talents are easy to discover, nurture to stardom at basic education level- Dr. Majekodunmi

The Executive chairman of Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Femi Majekodunmi has disclosed that, the talents are easy to discovered and nurtured to stardom at the basic education level.

Majekodunmi stated this on Tuesday at the 3rd edition of Governor’s cup Flag off/ Press conference held at NUJ Hall, Iwe-Iroyin Okelewo, Abeokuta the Ogun State capital.

“Over the years, available records have shown that Sporting activities, especially at Basic Education level provided good platform through which talents are discovered and nurtured to stardom. In this regard, Ogun state has produced winners of gold medals and laurels at both National and international sport competitions.

“The world will not forget in a jiffy, the achievements of the liked of Ogun State indigens, Segun Odegbemi, Falilat Ogunkoya, Anthony Joshua and her recent feat of Tobi Amusan the current record holder in World athletics champions,” he noted

“Ogun State governnment under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun is therefore commended to his commitments to the provision of qualitative education for teeming populace as the evident in the poo provision over 900 child-friedly projects across the state tagged Yellow roof revolution among others,” he said.

“As a major stakeholders, we should learners to participate more in gaining experience and attaining better spirit of sportsmanship. The governor’s Cup 3rd Edition therefore provides us with one such golden opportunity to learn and teach these qualities to the learners,” he added.
