Attackers suspected to be cultists have gruesomely hacked a 25 year old secondary school leaver, identified as Adeniji Abiodun, to death
Abiodun, a resident of Jide Jones Area of Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, was trailed by the cultists to a house behind the Olubara of Ibara’s Palace in Omide Area of the Abeokuta metropolis in the evening of Monday, January 15, 2023, and attacked him with axes.
The cultists inflicted several lethal cuts on him which almost severed his arms. The deceased also received several ax blows to his head and parts of his face.
According to an eyewitness who craved anonymity, the victim was in the room with his cousin, Adeyemi Kehinde Adedamola, when the two attackers stormed the location and started shooting sporadically.
The eye witness further told our correspondent that Kehinde who was initially thrown off balance by the gun shots, took to his heels and was pursued by one of the attackers.
His cousin was however unlucky as he was gruesomely hacked to death.
Gun shots were said to have been heard in the alley where Kehinde, said to be a civil servant in the Bureau of Land and Survey in Ogun State, escaped through.
When our correspondent visited the scene of the incident, the victim was seen lying face with his face down in his pool of blood.
His body was replete with deep cuts and covered in blood as a result of blows inflicted on him.
While the lifeless body was closely examined, the victim’s right and left feet were cut off. It was further learnt that the attackers made away with the legs as a “prize” of their onslaught.
Meanwhile, a middle aged man who simply identified himself as Sunday and claimed to be a friend to Kehinde, informed our correspondent that the cultists were actually on the trail of Kehinde.
He explained that before the incident, Kehinde had complained about some suspected cultists who had been on his neck to join the group, which he refused.
“Kehinde was actually their target. Before now, he had told me that some cult guys were pressuring him to join their group, but, he turned them down. They threatened that they would hurt him and deal with him, if he failed to cooperate with them. In fact, they dared him to inform the police.
“If he had not escaped, he would have been killed like they did his cousin. The family is now broken hearted as a result of the death of Abiodun, murdered by these dare-devil cultists . We are seriously appealing to the police to go after these killers and arrest them, so that they will not go after Kehinde who escaped from them”, Sunday stated.
As at the time of writing this report, the whereabouts of Kehinde remained unknown.
The corpse of Abiodun was later later evacuated by the policemen attached to the Ibara Police Division and deposited at the morgue of a General Hospital in Abeokuta.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said the police detectives were on the trail of the attackers, with the view of apprehending and prosecuting them.
Has🙆🙆 this is very bad oo. The police must do something oo. Haaa! May the soul of his cousin rest in peace 🙏
