The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has donated a Virtual Examination centre to Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Abeokuta.
The facility was handed over to the management of JAMB on Thursday at Its office, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The facility entails construction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre furnished with 250 tables and chairs, installation of 250 desktop computers.
The NCC also provided the facility with ICT peripherals and provision of 200KVA Generator .
Speaking at the event, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida disclosed the futuristic policies that the Federal Government had placed on ICT across six geo-political zones in the country.
Maida, represented by the Deputy Director, Projects Department, Engr. Kenneth Uzoekwe highlighted the relationship ICT intend to create and how it can assist Candidates who seat for JAMB Examination.
He said Federal Government had developed two policy documents geared towards using ICT for Socio-economic development of Nigeria.
“The commission as part of her mandate to implement the above policy documents has developed various intervention projects which are geared towards promoting ICT literacy and digital skills.
“The Virtual Examination Centre is not merely a physical space, it represents a nexus of knowledge, technology and the aspirations of our candidates who are seating for entrance examinations into higher
institutions.
“It is a space where traditional assessment methods converge with modern digital solutions, creating an environment that is conducive to fair, secure and efficient evaluations,” he said.
“The Center is a testament to our commitment to academic
integrity. With robust safeguards and advanced proctoring
mechanism, assessment conducted here will maintain the highest standards of credibility and impartiality. Candidates can take their examinations with confidence, knowing that their hard work and
dedication will be accurately measured and fairly acknowledged.
