As part of the year 2022 Capital projects of the Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, not less than thirty (30) constituents selected across the four Local Government Areas of Kwara Central Senatorial District have been trained and empowered on the production of soap, pomade, shampoo and other basic cosmetic items for business purposes.
The training facilitated through the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, VOM, according to Senator Oloriegbe, represented by his aide, Waheed Piri, was designed to unlock the latent entrepreneurship potentials of the beneficiaries whilst providing them with start-up capital to practise the venture so that they can be self-dependent whilst contributing to the socio-economic growth of their environment and beyond.
“We facilitated this project to produce those who will contribute to the socio-economic growth of our constituency through Medium and Small Scale Entreprises. We feel the best way through which we can get our people empowered is not by giving them fish (capital), but by tutoring them on how to fish independently. This has been the guiding principle of our representation since we got elected. Our objective is to promote a society that thrives on self-reliance.
“This training covers the production of basic cosmetic items, starting it up as a business, marketing strategy and financial management. Each of the participants after the training won’t just go home but will be given a certificate and empowered with start-up capital. We do hope they will justify their inclusion in the program by managing the business judiciously and expanding it further with prudence whilst training other people in the trade shortly.
The training consultant from the executing agency, Iliyasu Manu in his remarks expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm of the participants throughout the practical processes, he also commended Sen. Oloriegbe for facilitating the training which he describes as an exemplary democratic dividend that others should emulate.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sunday Olayemi, lauded Oloriegbe for his unceasing physical and human capital developments which he has been facilitating towards the development of his constituency even after he had lost his return bid to the Senate. He prayed to God to continue uplifting the lawmakers whilst giving assurance of judicious implementation of the fund, and knowledge imparted to them at the training.
