One of tbe leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Presidential Campaign Support group, Bola Campaign Organization (BCO), Alhaji Abdulwahab Korede Quadri, FCIB, has berated former President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC would have lost the election if his principal has removed fuel subsidy in his last days in office.
Alhaji Korede Quadri decried this in a statement he personally signed on Tuesday, stating that Garba Shehu no longer serve in his capacity as Presidential Spokesperson and should not interfere with the running of the current administration.
He maintained that Nigerians will soon start seeing positive results from the removal of fuel subsidy by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He expressed confidence that issues arising from the removal of fuel subsidy will be addressed to cushion it’s effects on Nigerians.
He however called on the former presidential spokesperson to maintain a distance from the present administration to enable it focus on the delivery of dividends of democracy to all and sundry.
He said, “My attention has been drawn to a statement made by tbe ex-presidential Spokesperson, Garba Shehu tiled: “Why did it take the new Tinubu/Shettima Presidency weeks to remove the petrol subsidy when Buhari didn’t do so for years?”.
“It must be on record that former President Muhammadu Buhari after the expiration of his administration has not reappointed Garba Shehu as his spokesperson and doing so may generate mixed reactions among the citizens”.
“It has also been established that some section of the past administration fraustrated Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s journey to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with naira scarcity and some others”.
“Similarly, if the deliberate redesigning of the Naira did not cause the electoral victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I then wonder how the subsidy removal by past administration would have caused the “divine” electoral victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.
“I am however urging Garba Shehu not to distract Tinubu/Shettima led administration from tbe onerous tasks facing them and the nation in their quest to deliver dividends of democracy to all Nigerians”.
“Let me however reassured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would do everything within his reach to address all lingering issues and challenges occasioned by the subsidy removal which has caused untold hardship on Nigerians”, he added.
