…Says Health Centres Should Be Trekkable
The Former Senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Lanre Tejuoso has tasked the Nigeria government to use Polling Units Method to provide Primary Health Centres to the People accross the Nation.
Sen. Tejuoso gave this task on Friday while addressing the newsmen at Iwe-Iroyin, Okelewo, Abeokuta the Ogun state capital.
He agitated that, the Health Centres should be trekkable for easy access to medical care of Nigerians, adding that health centre must have adequate facilities and professional health workers.
He noted that, it is a constitutional right of every individual to have medical attention at any point in time without denied access.
According to him “the way the INEC was ensured we have functional Polling Units in 119,000 locations in Nigeria. No body said, they did not get transport to get to the polling unit. They walked down successfully and they voted. That is how we want every Nigerians to work to the primary health centres without any vehicle,” he said.
“Every primary health centres should be a walking distance from where you are staying. The health centred must have every things you need like simple drugs, educated Medical personnel; be it a community health personnel, Nurse and luckier if we have a doctor,” he added.
“There is a law in health law which says there must be ambulance in every Ward. So, everybody be it educated or you are not have mobile phones that will be use to call health centre that you need ambulance. The system is already in place to have ambulance in every health centre,” he noted.
