Why We Challenged Otegbeye’s Candidacy In Court – APP

The Action People’s Party (APP) in Ogun State has said its challenged the candidacy of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the state, Barr. Biyi Otegbeye to test the efficiency of the new Electoral Act.

The APP Chairman in Ogun State, Alhaji Moshood Adebayo disclosed this to journalists on Monday at the flag off campaign of the party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Olufemi Omosile.

The APP chairman explained, it is their democratic right to challenge the ADC candidate in court for violating the Electoral Act.

He said, the new electoral law did not allow a candidate to obtain nomination form in two political parties.

He emphasized that, Otegbeye had contested the APC governorship primary with governor Dapo Abiodun before cross carpeting to ADC.

He, however, noted that, it was unlawful for Otegbeye who lost out in the APC primary to contestant at the same time in another political party.

He, therefore, denied that Governor Abiodun sponsored the party for the court process.

Alhaji Moshood Adeshina said the party is ready to bring back the lost glory of Ogun State and will ensure that less than 20,000 youths of the state were employed every month in all districts, assuring that the governorship candidate would complete all the road projects embarked upon by the current administration in the State.

Adeshina added that APP administration would also ensure that the local government autonomy was given, adding that it would enable the people from the grassroots to enjoy his political administration, particularly the traditional rulers.

He faulted that in democratic parlance, whereby autonomy wasn’t given to the Local Government, there won’t be development.

He added that everyone has an input to the development of the State, maintaining that if the autonomy of local government was not granted, it would affect the traditional rulers to make meaningful contributions towards the development of their community.

The party chairman pointed out that the party would eradicate the security challenges threatening the safety of the people.

He maintained that the failure of past political leaders in Ogun state, had prevented the youths from gaining employment, arguing that there were ample resources to build the youths of the state.

Adeshina bemoaned lack of drinkable water in Ogun state, especially the state capital, Abeokuta.

He equally flayed the APC government for high cost of education for the masses.

“Our party have come to stay in Ogun state come reign of power by February, 2023. Everything is set for the party of FLAG OFF its campaign today as we have cross the T’s and doted the I’s. APC has been in government for the last 3 and half years now procrastinating, Every of their proposed AGENDA failed woefully, I.e .on, security of life and properties, lack of infrastructural development like road, No drinkable water, high rate of education or lack of meaningful turnaround etc.

“APP is ready to put smile on the faces of our people in OGUN state if voted in, we’re now using this medium to call out our people to go to INEC and collect their PVC and vote for all APP candidates in OGUN state.”

Also speaking, the governorship candidate, Mr. Olufemi Omosile Falana noted that part of his mission was to revive the nine reserves areas for Cotton, Rubber, and Timbers in the State, saying only one is functioning among the nine reserves while assuring that he would make education free at all the tertiary institutions in the state.

He stated that he would also make education free for tertiary institutions in Ogun state and also make sure both federal government roads and the state-owned roads in Ogun state are motorable.

He called on residents of the state to go out and obtain their PVCs and vote APP across the state.

He said, the party has 17 State House of Assembly candidates, five Federal House of Representatives candidates and three senatorial candidates.
