FIBAN Holds National Congress, Inaugurates Transition Committee

The National body of Freelance and Independent Broadcaster’s Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) held its Annual National Congress on Sunday 18th of January, 2026 in Ibadan, while it Inaugurated a transition committee to steer the affairs of the Association.

While Inaugurating The committee, The Outgoing National president, Comrade Taiwo Adebayo-Gold who his tenure Ends on Monday 19th of January, 2026, announced that The committee will steer the affairs of the Association for Three Month before the new election that will usher in new National Executives.

The newly Inaugurated transition committee are Mogaji kola olootu (Oyo), Alh Shehu Oniguguru (Kwara), Hon Mayowa Adeboye (osun), Awise Sunday Agbaje(Ondo), Prophet Niyi Akinboade(Oyo), Tomogun Olubunmi (Ondo), Alh Gbenga Oladunni (ogun), Ronke Gbadebo (osun ), Ademola Olota (Osun) and Yinka Adeniji (Abuja)

Earlier in his valedictory speech, Adebayo-Gold appreciated all the leaders of the Association who stood by him through out his tenure, highlighting some of his achievements within 3year of his administration.

In his goodwill message, the former President of the Association, Comrade Desmond Abiodun Nwachukwu while congratulating the Outgoing National Executives on the Successful end of their tenure, he commended them for their commitment to uphold the Association unity, and appreciated members who stood firmly with association despite the rivalry Association created by some former members of the Association.

Desmond used the medium, to clarified some issues within the Association, warned the members of rivalry Association who claimed the custodian of FIBAN properties in Oyo state, which includes an 18 sitters Bus that was gifted to the Association by the state government, to returned it before legal action would be taken on them.

Responding, the former chairman of Oyo state chapter, Comrade Seun Awodele, who the said properties were acquired during his administration, pleaded to the members to forget the properties and move on, urging the leaders of the Association to place somethings in order so the Association would be financially bouyant.

Also, in their goodwill messages, Alhaji Gbenga Oladunni, Comrade Ben Nwabor, Prophet Niyi Akinboade expressed their pleasure for the turn up of the members at the Congress, and appreciated them for allow peace to reign in the Association, urging them to continue in their commitment for the growth and development of the Association.

The national Congress also rectified and Inaugurated the appointment of caretaker committee for Ogun state chapter, chaired by Chief Olalekan Alexander Soyinka popularly known as Ayinla Egba as the chairman.

Other members of the committee are Comrade Olusoji Idowu Soewu (Isele Nla), Comrade Bolanle Oluwatoyin Asakpa, Comrade Olusoji Akindiya (Okanlomo), Comrade Remilekun Elegbede and Comrade Moses Okunlola, who will serve as Secretary.

Also, in attendance at the Congress are members of Board of Trustees of the Association, council of Elders, Outgoing National Executives, chairmen of Kwara, Oyo, Abuja, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Lagos state chapters, and members from the states.
